Welcome to the My Safe
Florida Home Web site.
Our mission is to help
Floridians learn how to harden their homes to better
protect themselves and their families from windstorm
damage.
Thank you
for your interest in the My Safe
Florida Home program.
CFO Sink aggressively
lobbied the Legislature to
continue funding this
tremendously successful
program. However, due to budget
constraints, the program expired on June 30,
2009.
If you have resources
available, we encourage you
to take steps to protect
yourself and your property
against hurricane damage.
The first step is pursuing a
wind inspection to identify
how you can strengthen your
home or determine if you are
eligible for discounts on
your wind insurance.

Grant funds are not taxable
income.
Following a request from CFO
Sink, the IRS ruled
in November
2007 that grants awarded
through the MSFH program are
not considered taxable
income and do not have to be
reported as income to the
federal government. Read

Certification of Inspectors
Due to the expiration of the My Safe
Florida Home program on June 30,
2009, we are no longer certifying
wind inspectors. A list of inactive
inspectors associated with the
program has been provided, along
with the dates which they were
active, to allow
insurance companies to verify that
the Uniform Mitigation Verification
Inspection Forms (Form 1802)
submitted by homeowners
participating in the program were
completed by qualified, certified
inspectors. Click
here
for a complete list of
inspectors associated with the My
Safe Florida Home program.

Learn more about mitigation
discounts.
If your home has
undergone a wind inspection through
the My Safe Florida Home program and
you are potentially eligible for
insurance discounts or credits, you
will receive a mitigation form. This
personalized form will tell your
