GRANT REQUIREMENTS REGARDING WINDOWS AND DOORS Front Door/Entry Doors: If a homeowner chooses to protect exterior doors, then your estimate should include the sliding glass doors and entry doors, including the front door. We will not reimburse the homeowner unless all doors, including sliding glass doors and front doors, identified by our report are protected. Gable Vents: If a home has gable vents identified in the report, the homeowner will not be reimbursed for window openings unless the gable vents are protected. Please be sure your estimate for window protection includes these openings. If the My Safe Florida Home Program finds evidence that contractors did not properly advise the homeowner about the necessary door or window protection, then the contractor will be terminated from the Participating Contractor’s list. Important Reminder: Pursuant to the Contractor Participation Agreement, section (B)(5), the Participating Contractor shall first obtain from the Homeowner the Inspection Report and review the section of the Inspection Report which specifies the work to be accomplished.
To properly complete the Participating Contractor Verification Form, please be sure to provide the Florida Building Code or Notice of Acceptance approval number on the form. You must also provide a diagram of the house or a cut sheet which shows the location of the doors and/or windows on the home. This information is easily accessible since local jurisdictions require them for the permit. Failure to provide the above information and documents will prolong the reimbursement process for the homeowner and ultimately generate additional work for your company. Important Reminder: Pursuant to the Contractor Participation Agreement section (B)(10), the Participating Contractor Verification Form must be completed by the qualifying agent or Participating Contractor and, in the case of opening and door protection, must include the Florida Building Code or Notice of Acceptance approval number.

COMBATING HOMEOWNER FRUSTRATION We have received calls from homeowners reporting contractors who have listed “brace gable end” as a type of work they are willing to perform, but who are unwilling to provide an estimate or contract to brace the gable ends if no other work is being done on the roof. If you no longer wish to brace gable ends as a stand alone item, please send an email to contractorinfo@myfloridacfo.com or contact the Contractor Unit immediately at 800.363.5852. This will reduce frustration for both you and the homeowner. To minimize confusion or misunderstandings, refer all homeowner’s inquiries to the MSFH helpline, 866.513.6734, or our website, mysafefloridahome.com.
Many contractor files contain outdated information. Remember to update us with any changes to your contact information, online listing, counties you want to work in, or any other information in your file, by sending an email to contractorinfo@myfloridacfo.com. If you are updating an address, make sure it corresponds with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s, DBPR, records. Check out myfloridalicense.com or contact DBPR at 850.487.1395.
WEBSITE LISTING POLICY The website address you provide must show linkage with the Participating Contractor or that website will not be posted under your contractor information. In addition, if a link to a manufacturer is provided that does not show an obvious connection with your company on the manufacturer’s homepage, the link will not be posted either. |
