During
the 2006 Legislative Session, the My Safe Florida Home
program was created to help Floridians learn how to
strengthen their homes against hurricanes and better
protect themselves and their properties against
hurricane damage. Section 215.5586, Florida Statutes,
passed by state lawmakers in 2006 and later modified
during the 2007 Regular Session established the My Safe
Florida Home program which calls for the creation of an
Advisory Council.
The My
Safe Florida Home Advisory Council consists of 12
members, with the Senate President and Speaker of the
House each making two appointments.
The Department of Financial Services will
administratively support the Council and its members.
The Council is charged with providing advice and
assistance to the Department of Financial Services
regarding the administration of the My Safe Florida Home
program. |
